What is the cost of a wedding and reception at the Tate House?

We offer a variety of Wedding Packages to fit our brides’ budget. The cost of a wedding at our North Georgia wedding venue varies according to the number of guests, day of the week, and food/beverage package. Our prices consist of a ceremony fee, site fee, and food/beverage cost (request more pricing information). Tax and Service charge is added to all food and beverage.

How many guests can you accommodate for an event?

Ceremony  

 The maximum capacity for all Tate House ceremonies is 220 guests.  This includes ceremonies inside the Pavilion and both outdoor sites.

Reception

  The ballroom can accommodate 180 guests for a dinner and dance reception.  Receptions that include dinner, dancing, and a DJ with more than 180 guests, Need to purchase the Pavilion Dance Party.

Receptions with dinner, dancing, and a Band (up to 5 pc band) 150 maximum guests.  Receptions with dinner, dancing, and a Band (up to 5 pc band) with more than 150 guests, need to purchase the Pavilion Dance Party.  Any reception with more than 5 Band members must be in the Pavilion.

Will there be another event at the same time as mine?

No. Our entire North Georgia wedding venue is yours for your Atlanta wedding or special event.

Is the mansion ever open to the public?

We are open to the public for our Christmas Open House Tours Only. 

How often do you have appointments to view the estate?

We make appointments to tour our North Georgia wedding venue Tuesday-Saturday. We have a limited number of Saturday appointments. Times of appointments vary from day to day and are according to availability. Please keep in mind that weekend appointments book fast.

What if I am going to be late for my appointment?

The appointments are every hour, so if you are late please realize that we cannot give you more than the allotted time scheduled for you.

Do I need a wedding planner?

No. Our wedding packages include wedding planning services. Our Tate House planning team facilitates all of your planning meetings, wedding rehearsal, wedding directing, and day-of coordination to the end of your wedding.

Do you allow outside caterers?

The Tate House is the exclusive vendor for all food and beverage/bars. No outside caterers are allowed.

What vendors am I responsible to hire?

The client is responsible for hiring and meeting with vendors such as:

Music Professionals, Photographers, Videographers, Hair & Make-up artists, and Ministers.  Please note that the Tate House has a Vendor dress code and it is strictly enforced.

How many bridesmaids and groomsmen can I have?

The maximum is 10 for bridesmaids and groomsmen, which includes the maid of honor, best man, junior bridesmaids & groomsmen, flowers girls, and ring bearers.

Is there a room for the bride and groom to get ready in?

Yes. The bride and her maids with have the use of an elegant vintage French two-story cottage with two restrooms, four vanities, and four makeup mirrors. The groom and his groomsmen will be very comfortable in our hip, urban farmhouse cottage and they are to come dressed and ready.

Do you have a separate area for the bridal party to get ready?

Yes. Please keep in mind that your photographer may need some of your time before the ceremony so we would advise you to arrange for the additional time you will need with one of our extended Bridal Cottage packages. The time you that will need will be according to the number of girls getting ready and whether you are doing both hair and makeup. We only allow hair and makeup if you purchase or your package includes the Bridal Cottage All-Day Package. (We ask that you have your manicures and pedicure done prior to coming to the cottage.)

Are you allowed to go down on guest count after a contract is signed?

You are not allowed to decrease the guest count that you give after 30-days from your wedding. All of our events have a guest count minimum. The minimum depends on what type of event it is and what package you choose.

Are you allowed to increase your guest count after signing a contract?

Yes, you can increase your guests count up until 10 days before your event

Do you require a seating chart of all guests attending the reception?

A guest seating poster is required.

Can we have just our wedding ceremony at the Tate House and our reception elsewhere?

No, ceremonies are available only with a reception.

How early can our guests arrive?

We request that guests arrive no earlier than 30 minutes prior to the ceremony time. The mansion is open only to the immediate wedding party prior to the ceremony and we ask that your guests respect that our staff is busy preparing for your event. The mansion is available for your guests to tour during the reception.

If more guests show up than we expect, are we charged for them?

Tate House banquet manager and wedding director will do a headcount during the ceremony or during your reception to confirm the exact number of guests. Should your headcount go over the guaranteed number determined at your final headcount time (10 days before your event), you will be charged a $10 surcharge for each additional guest, along with the agreed-upon food, and beverage, service charge, and sales tax for each guest. This applies to guests who are added after the guaranteed headcount and those who show up unexpectedly on the day of the event. Our chef will do everything possible to accommodate any surprise guests you may have. We encourage all our clients to double-check this headcount, as unexpected arrivals create extra costs for you. Also, please remember that you will not be able to decrease your headcount after the final number has been guaranteed.

If there is food left over, can we take it with us?

Health codes prohibit taking food off the premises, except for the wedding cake.

Are children allowed to attend weddings at Tate House?

Children 13 years of age or older may attend weddings at Tate House. Couples can have up to two flower girls and two ring bearers (4 years of age or older).
