Winter Wedding Planning Tips

Pick the perfect winter wedding color palette.

Picking the right color palette is essential for creating the perfect wedding! Your color palette will carry out your vision from your save-the-dates to your reception. So, use your colors to set the tone for your wedding! Many couples choose soft, neutral colors to achieve the perfect wedding look. Earthy, neutral tones are always timeless and make for an elegant ambiance. But, don’t be afraid to incorporate bold and vibrant colors. They’re not just for spring and summer! Playing around with deep jewel tones, or even black or metallics, can help you find the perfect color palette to make your wedding pop! We also love the idea of an all-white winter wedding, as if everything was covered in snow.

Use winter motifs.

Incorporate winter elements that not only complement your colors, but also help create the perfect cozy vibe. Couples can have fun and get creative with their winter decorations to help capture their unique style! Plenty of greenery, candlelight, lanterns, wreaths and even Christmas trees are great examples of winter elements that brides can use to help carry out their wedding vision.

Embrace the Christmas season.

If you’re marrying at The Tate House around the holidays, you’ll know our annual Christmas Open House will be in full swing. Our luxe Christmas decor is known far and wide. We suggest embracing the Christmas decor as an easy way to give your winter wedding that festive flair.

Keep it cozy.

Your guests will appreciate some cozy touches. Hot chocolate, mulled wine, warm apple cider, blankets by any outdoor areas, hand warmers for cooler ceremonies, etc. can help your guests feel nice and cozy in a winter setting.

Get creative with your favors.

At the end of your wedding, give your guests a favor that will tie in your theme until the very end! Wintery favors allow the couple to get creative and festive. Candles, Christmas ornaments, hot chocolate bombs are a few examples of winter favors your guests are sure to love!

Plan your attire accordingly.

Wintertime allows for fun opportunities to dress your bridesmaids in fun fabrics like velvet. We’ve also seen some stunning bridal parties in gold sequined bridesmaids dresses. Don’t forget to incorporate some faux fur or cable-knit shawls for your gals. They’ll appreciate the warmth while taking outdoor portraits and the added accessory will give your wedding photos that winter touch. For yourself, consider brining an extra pair of shoes for outdoor portraits to stay warm and comfy.

Tate House couples, we want to know! How are you planning to fulfill your winter wedding vision? We’d love to hear!
